Atheists, what is the best argument FOR God?

there are no convincing arguments for god, but some are worse than others.

i thought it would be interesting to see what people consider the best (of the bad) arguments for god?.

in my oppinion it is the fine-tuning argument from cosmology.

The best argument is the Watchtower society. Only a wise, all-knowing god could establish such a pure and loving organization as his earthly representative.

Born-in. Started having serious doubts when I was in my early twenties, but wasted another ten years trying to reconcile those doubts. I finally made a clean break, about 8 years ago.

i just caught this in an upcoming study article which will be "studied" in the congregations the week of 11/18-24/13:.

he and his wife were elated when their eldest daughter, age ten, told them that she loved her parents, loved the brothers and sisters, and loved jehovah very much.

she said that she wanted to dedicate her life to jehovah and get baptized.

It breaks my heart every time I hear about a child that young getting baptized. Every single one I've known personally, without exception, were disfellowshipped at some point when they were still teenagers. A ten year old isn't even prepared for the challenges of adolescence, much less the weight of a lifelong commitment, that has dire consequences if you break it.

How to accept the actions of the Old Testament God

how are we able to do this.. this is not an attempt to stir the pot or cause confusion but i was sitting here thinking of all the really horrid things that the old testament god did to people.

when i was a jw i just purposely put it to the back of my mind always trying to make an excuse.

when i was in field service and someone would ask me about it i would just change the subject.. however i have been reading alot of info lately here about how wonderful jesus is and how he is a direct representation of what god the father would be.

The atrocities committed by the Old Testament god is one of the first things that got me to think; not just about the JW religion, but about the credibility of the bible itself.

this is not the first time it has happened but it really took off this morning.. one sister says, "i was watching family guy with kids and the dog took home a human to have sex with.
